Curriculum Vision

History at Wellington Eagles aims to promote curiosity, enjoyment and an understanding of the past through the development of children’s empathy and critical thinking skills. As children move through our school, they will learn about different periods of time, develop a strong sense of identity and gain a deeper understanding of the chronology that has shaped years gone by and how that contributes to life today.

Curriculum Intent

We aim to:

develop the skills of enquiry by children asking questions, thinking critically and developing perspective.

help children develop a sense of identity through learning about their family, the development of their community, Britain, Europe and the world.
foster in children an interest in the past and to develop an understanding that enables them to enjoy all that history has to offer.
develop a sense of time and chronology.
help children develop an understanding of how the past has contributed to life today and the society we live in.
